Who We Are
Built by collectors.
For collectors.
TrueSpec BMX exists because the vintage BMX market has always deserved a trusted pricing standard — and never had one.
Mission
Bring clarity, trust, and data-driven truth to the vintage BMX market.
Pricing in this market has always been fragmented. Spread across eBay completed sales, Facebook Marketplace listings, forum opinions, and collector knowledge passed around in threads — with no way to know which numbers to trust.
TrueSpec BMX takes a different approach. We analyze completed sales data, bike configuration, and market demand to deliver accurate, evidence-backed valuations — not forum opinions, not asking prices.
The goal is to become the definitive valuation authority for vintage BMX — the standard referenced by collectors, sellers, dealers, and insurers worldwide.
“
A bike is worth what someone paid for it. Not what someone is asking. Not what the forum says. Not what you remember it selling for in 2021. The only honest answer to "what is this worth" is what someone actually paid for a comparable bike, recently, in comparable condition.
This is the operating principle behind every TrueSpec valuation. When the data says a bike is worth $2,200, it means someone paid $2,200 for a comparable bike. That number is real in a way no listing price ever is.
What We Stand For
What you can expect from every valuation.
01
We tell you what the data says
Not what you want to hear. If comparable sales put your bike below your expectations, you'll see those comps — with context. A confident but wrong number is worse than an honest uncertain one.
02
We know the difference
A 1984 Haro Sport with original Araya 7X rims is not the same bike as one without them. We value at the configuration level — not just make, model, and year. The details you care about are the details we price on.
03
Nothing is hidden
Every valuation shows the comparable sales it was built on, the confidence score, and the reasons for uncertainty. If the data is thin, we say so. You can evaluate the evidence yourself — that's the point.
04
Built on community knowledge
The collectors, forums, and historians who built the institutional knowledge of this market came before us. We encode that knowledge into defensible numbers — we don't replace it. TrueSpec is the tool you use before you post in the forums.
05
It gets more accurate over time
Every valuation processed and every comparable sale captured makes the next result better. We only model a bike variant when the data is strong enough to do it responsibly. An honest "not enough data" is better than a bad number dressed up with confidence.
We Are Not
- A price oracle
- A forum replacement
- A marketplace
- A hype-driven valuation engine
- An authority on what collectors should pay
- A competitor to BMX Museum or community knowledge
We Replace
- Asking "what's it worth?" in forums
- Manually searching eBay and Facebook for comps
- Conflicting opinions with no structure
- Information asymmetry between knowledgeable buyers and uninformed sellers
- The absence of a trusted pricing reference for insurance and estate purposes
The goal: become the tool people use before they post in forums. Not by replacing the forums — by making them more useful.
